RISE Poster
The RISE poster displays the core ideas related to home-school connection (HSC) and science, technology, and engineering (STE) at a glance. Available sizes: letter (8.5 x 11) and large (89 x 118).
Co-Constructing Activity Sheet
The questions on this page provide an opportunity to consider how to integrate HSC and STE in your curriculum. Collaborating with co-teachers and families strengthens the richness of your curriculum.
Frameworks in Action
To more clearly understand the science frameworks and what each disciplinary core idea, crosscutting concept, and science and engineering practice might look like in an early childhood classroom, this resource combines information from Massachusetts frameworks, Massachusetts Early Education and Care Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences, and Next Generation Science Standards.
Home to School Sorting Activity
Home to School or School to Home? Does this learning experience reflect a specific approach? Could it be both? This sorting activity reference helps you to reflect on a number of experiences to offer you insight into why they might be considered a Home to School or School to Home activity.
Intentional Planning Sheet
The Intentional Planning sheet provides guidance in planning an experience and considering key details to ensure STE and HSC integration in curriculum.
STE Question Placard
Asking good questions will support children to problem solve and think more deeply about a concept. These 6 types of questions support strong STE learning. Remembering these types of questions in the moment takes practice. In the meantime, this visual is great to place in your classroom at adult eye level, to support your questioning during experiences with children.
What is Inquiry-Based Science?
Inquiry-based science allows children to become active participants in their own learning. Under the umbrella of inquiry, there are 3 ways to engage children to assure appropriate learning goals are supported and children are appropriately challenged. This handout provides insight into understanding the value in each type of inquiry: open, guided and structured.
