“In the beginning, I was not so sure about “science”—I thought you had to do something specific about it. Then through the RISE project, I realized that what I had been doing and talking with the children in the classroom were already related to science. I have learned a lot in this project, especially through the professional development workshops, the professional learning community, parent-teacher discussion groups, as well as the interactions with the curriculum coach. I appreciate the way RISE project offers these various channels for me to learn from different experts. Every time I learned something new from PD I brought them back to the classroom, and tried to incorporate more science concepts in the activities that I do with the children. Now, I see that young children can learn science concepts too. It’s good to begin early, and introduce simple concepts to them first. Science is not always about research!”
