“I remember from my first professional development workshop, I was making a spinning top with compass and rulers. During that PD we tried different inquiry styles. It was different than the other workshops I have attended before—in which there was usually a person talking and handing out information about what I need to do. But for RISE PD, it’s different, because we actually tried the activities out, to know the types of materials I need, and simple ways I could do to engage children.
As for the parent-teacher discussion groups, I admire the way parents came and stayed at the PTD. I value their time and participation. I love it when parents and teachers were both engaged in hands-on activities, such as playing with the blocks and ramps. They could recall and share their experience with building back in their hometown and from their career.”
