Question Of The Day (QOTD)

Question of The Day (QOTD) is an easy and fun experience parents and children can do together during drop off. QOTD gives teachers information that can be used to connect home information to the curriculum.

Examples:

Families were asked to identify one of their family’s favorite musical artists. A wonderful variety of music was noted, including Rock, Country, African, and Blues. Using songs from these musical artists, children explored volume, pitch, and rhythm. Children were excited when their musical artists were shared, building increased engagement.

The children were asked what material their homes were made of. Over the course of the week, children began changing their answers or noting multiple materials as they noticed more details of their own homes. This information connected nicely to the story The Three Little Pigs.

After reading the story, This is the Way We Go to School, a Question of the Day surveyed families on how they get to school. This then provided a nice transition into the transportation unit. It provides a nice example of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data.
